Romney and Me

I am very disappointed that Mitt Romney keeps coming out on top in polls.  Romneycare should stop any chance he has for president.  He is a distraction.  Any republican from Massachussetts is a RINO and the country needs a real leader to get us out of this mess.  As for how Romney personally affects me?

Romneycare requires you to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty.  If you are below a certain income level you are eligible for Mass Health.  If you make a lot of money you can afford top shelf insurance or get it through and employer.  Then there is the small business man/woman.  My husband and I make too much for Mass health and we make too little to afford a top shelf plan.  We bought a catastrophic plan with a high deductible.  This means my husband, 2 children and I get 1 physical a year that is covered.  We pay out of pocket for any other doctor visit and pay our own prescriptions.  If any of us should get seriously ill we pay a $5000 deductible and then the insurance will start to kick in.  This plan is good for us because we are healthy, we take care of ourselves, and we are past having more children.

We filed our taxes this year and gave them our insurance voucher.  We got a $1200 penalty on our taxes because our insurance wasn't good enough.  Good enough for who?  We had to pay this $1200 so other people can go to the doctor on my dime at a time when we can barely afford a visit to the doctor on our budget.  Thank you Romney!

Romney recently came out in defense of Romneycare but said he would repeal Obamacare.  They are basically the same thing.  Romney makes the distinction that states have the right to mandate insurance but the federal government does not have that right.  He says you can move to another state but if the federal government does something you don't like there is no where to turn. Mr. Romney is right and guess what?  Massachusetts lost a representative this year.  Our population is growing smaller.

I personally know of 3 families that have moved to New Hampshire.  I am getting a degree and plan to move to a red state.  I am tired of the taxes and living in a nanny state.  This state has sanctuary cities for illegal aliens.  Cambridge might as well be Marxville.  I swear their people take their ideas right out of Marx's Manifesto.

We cannot afford for Romney to be President.  He did not have a backbone when it came to gay marriage. That was done by fiat.  Romneycare is the last straw for me and my family.  No one who has been in politics in Massachusetts should be nominated for Republican President.  This state is going bankrupt and Romney did his part to get us here.  We can't even get our own population to vote for a tax cut.  The only tax cut the people of Massachusetts voted for was to roll back the beer tax.  That is good because the liquor dulls the pain of all the other taxes we have to put up with.

  1. I'd love to move to VA, or TX. Or even SC. Love the south. NH would be acceptable, though. Nice post.

  2. Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe we will move to CT and all the Lussiers can be together. How fun would that be!

  3. I sincerely hope that you will not leave the Commonwealth. We need more families like you.

We both know how terrible these punitive tax penalties have been. It is up to us to make sure that Mr. Romney is not able to hide from this issue. It is especially true that we must work for his defeat in the New Hampshire Republican primary. Count me as Anyone But Mitt!

  4. Not sure CT would be much better.

I also will not vote for Romney. The only shot he had of getting my vote would be if he had at least made a mistake and Romneycare isn't working. He refuses to do that.

  5. It is about 5 years away for me moving. I want my kids to finish high school first. I am studying to be a nurse and will need to see where my best choices for employment could be. Until then I will continue my activism and try to change MA to a redstate.
